FAQ

  • I haven’t run in years… Is this the right fit for my current abilities? YES! We have many women who join us to get back into running.  A lot of new members are returning to running from a break.  We encourage everyone to do so safely and offer connections to those who are looking for running partners outside of the Saturday Group Runs.
  • I like to walk, is that ok? YOU BET! We have many women who come to the Group “Runs” to walk only.
  • What is the difference between Group and Fun Runs? All runs are hosted by volunteer members at a location, time and day of their choosing.  We try to rotate through central locations throughout Western Mass and norther Connecticut. Group Runs are generally held on Saturdays at locations that are amenable to easy routes and distances so no one is left behind and walkers can finish alongside the runners.  Many Club Members incorporate the Group Runs into their personal training, so they have company on their long runs.  We open these runs to potential new members who want to walk or run with us a time or two before becoming a member.  The run details are not posted publicly but offered to those who reach out for info. Fun Runs are hosted by Club Members (usually) from their homes.  The hostess prepares a couple of different routes for varying distances in their neighborhood.  When held at her home, we return for coffee and sometimes a light breakfast.  These runs are more socially focused and for members only.  They are typically hosted on Sunday mornings.
  • Do you offer training “workouts”? Outside of our Walk-to-Run Clinic, we unfortunately do not offer training.  Members make connections with each other and often follow similar training plans.  We would be happy to suggest groups that offer a training component should you need it.
  • I want to join NOW but I also want to do the Clinic… how should I go about that? We would LOVE to have you as a new member NOW.  You can join as a walker, walk-to-runner or even regular runner.  You can also sign up as a member of the Clinic when registration opens -usually in February- (we would combine memberships to ensure you have the 2 full years) OR you can support newer members who join the Clinic and a become Volunteer Mentor.  Our Volunteer Mentors come to the 10 sessions and run alongside the Clinic Participants offering support and encouragement.
  • I am not on Facebook; how can I connect to other Club Members if I don’t have access to the Private Facebook Group? We have a weekly newsletter that details all of the upcoming Club evets and info.  We have a members-only section of our website that allows members to search contact info.  The Board is also able to make connections between members.  Many of us exchange contact info at the Group and Fun Runs.
  • What info is in the Private FB Group page? We use the closed group page to track event attendance so that hosts know who to expect at Group and Fun Runs.  All Members can post running and fitness related info they think others will find useful.  Members look each other up in the group to connect via Facebook Messenger.
  • What info is in the Members-Only Webpage? Member email addresses are listed and general areas of residence.  We do not include street addresses or phone numbers.  Names and emails are grouped together by areas.  Members in Hampshire County would be listed as “Northampton, Easthampton, Southampton” or “Hadley and Amherst”.  Hampden County members might be listed as “Springfield and Chicopee”, “Longmeadow and East Longmeadow”, or “Westfield, Agawam and West Springfield”, etc.… We find this sorting works best so members can connect with others who live and work in areas that are most convenient for their schedules.  In addition to this contact info, we have our meeting agendas and minutes posted as well as our finance reports.  We update this page semi-annually.
  • Where can I find additional information? Please email us at pvwrc1@gmail.com.
